In this new episode of Connections, we sit down with Doug Augustine of Georgia-Texas Enterprises.

Georgia-Texas Enterprises was founded by Gene and Jane Augustine in 1988. Mr. Augustine fell in love with the Taco Bell brand and traded in his long time career in Pharmaceutical Sales to open the first Taco Bell in Newnan, Georgia. Today, that very same Taco Bell is the highest volume store in the Company.

In 1998, Gene passed away of a sudden heart attack. Doug, Gene’s son, succeeded him in the role of President and CEO of Georgia-Texas Enterprises. Doug has since lead the company to become a multi-brand Restaurant Management Group. GTE currently owns and operates 12 Taco Bells and 13 Wendy’s. The core focus of GTE is to create a GREAT restaurant company by embracing a people-focused culture.
